In Memory

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Harry Topolewski. One of the founders of Topolewski America passed away October 11, 2019 at the age of 86. Peter started his career years ago road building in Canada specifically working in British Columbia, Yukon and Alberta. In those early years Peter worked as a mechanic, operator, driller, and eventually as a foreman. Those days took him through some of the toughest country in North America which included sections of the Yellowhead Highway in Alberta to Vanderhoof, (where he met his wife Josephine) Fraser Lake, Red Pass, Pines Pass and Prince George. Work on BC’s Highway 3, the Creston Salmo Highway; sections of the Trans Canada including the Rogers Pass, the Kamloops bypass and the Fraser Canyon.

Peter was instrumental in expanding the company into America, first in California then Nevada. In the process he guided the company into new markets including civil infrastructure, housing development, commercial developments and paving. Always the first on the site and the last to leave Peter took it down a gear the last decade but kept involved still fabricating and designing equipment, and consulting to the very end. He is survived by his wife Josephine, five sons, one daughter, ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was predeceased by son Michael. A man who cared too much about everyone whether a friend or a stranger, a heart as big as Texas. His constant wit, charm and compassion will be missed by everyone he touched throughout his life.
